To get the most out of this post it would be useful if you are familiar with the theatrical release of Batman Forever. With any novelisation there are differences to what appears on screen, but with Batman Forever there are a number of changes between the book and the film, and some of these really enhance the story. In this post I am taking a look at the novel, to highlight the similarities and differences that occur.
However, this interpretation of the material included additional scenes and details not covered in the theatrical release of the film, providing readers with an alternative experience. Spread across 30 chapters, Batman Forever the Novelisation, told the story of the film, covering all of the key plot points that appeared on screen. The book – written by Peter David – was based on the Batman Forever screenplay by Lee Batchler, Janet Scott Batchler and Akiva Goldsman and offered a printed take on the movie.
In 1995, to coincide with the theatrical release of Batman Forever, Warner Books published a tie-in novel, called Batman Forever the Novelisation.
